Well, it seems in Sydney that Autumn/Fall has truly begun to set in. And while I really prefer the milder, warmer weather I do look forward to the changes in trends in make up – particularly lip products! I’m really excited to do this post today because lipsticks have got to be my favourite make up product, and I can’t wait to share with you my favourite ones for Autumn!
So firstly, I’ve got to talk about the Mac lipsticks. I visited LA in December and bought the shade that everyone is going nuts over at the moment – Brave. And while I wore it a little in summer I just feel it so suits this time of year. I also love wearing Modesty, a slightly more brown-nude shade, especially to work. And finally there’s Up the Amp with a real purple tinge. I’m obsessed with purple shaded lip products at the moment!
Speaking of purple, I adore the Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipsticks! My mum was kind enough to buy me the shade Melted Fig while we were visiting Sephora together, and its fantastic. The packaging is so cute and the product itself is great – long wearing and easy to put on.
And then I’ve got three drugstore (or Chemist for us Australians!) picks. As far as I’m concerned you can’t go past the drugstore for amazing and inexpensive lipsticks. A great, and wildly popular, matte lipstick this season is Maybelline’s Matte Lipstick in Touch of Spice. This browny-plum lipstick is a perfect fit for the 90s lip trend at the moment.
One of my absolute favourite inexpensive lipstick brands is Milani. They have beautiful colours, are so cheap, and even smell amazing! Unfortunately for those of us in Australia Milani hasn’t made its way into stores down here yet. However, it does seem they’ve just launched an online store for us! I was lucky enough to pick up the shade 22 Chilled Brandy on one of my trips to LA. It is an amazing shimmery dark berry colour that would even be perfect for winter (I also love wearing this at Christmas time!).
And finally, one I have wanted for many months and was actually able to pick up in a recent Priceline sale. It’s the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in 180 Vintage Pink and OH MY is it incredible. The formula is amazing, very moisturising, and the colour is a gorgeous dusty rose colour, but dark enough to suit the season.
These are swatches of each of the lipsticks I mentioned. Nudes, pinks, purples and berry colours – ones I do reach for all year round but am doing much more so now that the season, and therefore the fashion and make up trends, are changing.
What is your favourite Autumn/Fall lip product?
